Family of kidnapped girl to petition AG over slow police response

The family of one of the three kidnapped teenage girls in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, say they will petition the office of Attorney General about the case.

Three teenagers, Ruth Love Quayson, Pricilla Blessing Bentum and Priscilla Koranchie have disappeared for more than a month now, with the police doing very little to trace the girls.

[contextly_sidebar id=”ejvgecAz8KuVl5yRuMWLDuW8q15A0bxR”]The leading suspect is a Nigerian national, Samuel Udoetuk Wills, who is currently being prosecuted after he escaped from cells.

In an interview with Citi News, Awuradjoa Quayson, a  sister of one of the missing girls says, they are unhappy because it appears authorities are more interested in convicting the suspect for breaking jail than finding their missing relative.

“We wanted to petition the AG because they always talk about the escape of the suspects in court but they have not even mentioned the whereabouts of the kids. We are worried because if they take about two months to talk about the escape then what is going to happen to the kids over there?,” she said.

Although the suspect was initially arrested, he escaped police custody two weeks ago, and was rearrested after a few days.

Awuradjoa Quayson had earlier expressed concerns about her sister’s disappearance, saying it is affecting her family.

“Even when your child is sick, imagine the trauma you go through as a parent. How much more kidnapping? My mother has not been able to sleep from the very day the kidnapper escaped from the cells.”

“It has not been easy for the past one month, knowing that, our relative is there, but you are not hearing from her. You can’t even tell whether she has eaten or not,” she added.
