The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Multinational Maritime Coordinating Centre (MMCC) has commenced a data processing course in Accra.
They include officers and staff drawn from Maritime Operations Centers of Liberia, Sierra Leone, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Guinea.
The course is aimed at improving the capacity of officers and the centers to deal with maritime information.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Acting Director of MMCC Zone F, Commander Yussif Benning said he is optimistic of a positive outcome.
He said the course will boost the rapport between the centers in information sharing and also help fight maritime crime.
The two-week-long program will see participants being taken through lectures, discussions. It will end with a Command Post Exercise on Friday 29 November 2019.
The course is initiated by the Yaounde Architecture and Supported by the Gulf of Guinea Inter-Regional Network (GoGIN) project.
The Yaounde Architecture is represented by Regional Maritime Security Center (CRESMAO) and the Multinational Maritime Coordinating Centre (MMCC) Zone F.
