The Forsports Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Rotary Club of Sunyani East to source and procure medical equipment to needy health centres in some of the deprived communities in Ghana.
Forsports Foundation has been using sports, especially football, as a tool for social development and the promotion of community cohesion.
Rotary International, on the other hand, is an international service organisation whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian services and to advance goodwill and peace around the world.
The MOU provides the framework to foster collaboration and participation of both organisations for the underprivileged in society to have access to better healthcare, and for this reason, the agreement facilitates the establishment of channels of communication that permit the creation and exchange of information to develop proposals for sourcing and procuring hospital equipment and humanitarian aids to be distributed in deprived areas of Ghana.
Eric Adu Gyamfi, President of Rotary Club of Sunyani East, a member of Rotary International, was excited about the partnership, which ensures that deprived hospitals and health centres are adequately equipped with medical equipment to ensure quality health care delivery.
The president said the deal gives the two parties another opportunity to help the needy, adding that Rotarians are committed to the service of humanity and this gives them another avenue to further that objective.
Mr. Gyamfi noted that the health needs of the country were paramount for the growth of the economy, hence the need for all hands to be on deck toward the provision of good quality health care delivery.
The Founder and C.E.O of Forsports Foundation, Christopher Forsythe, could not hide his delight after the signing of this MOU saying, ”We believe by signing this MOU, we can advise the children and community leaders during our sports for development programmes about the need to always patronise the health facilities which we have supported through our initiative with Rotary Club of Sunyani East for regular medical check-ups. This brings another opening for the foundation to reach out to the less privileged in society.”
He also said that ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for everyone at all ages is important for building prosperous societies.
“Through our programs, we have also come across situations where injured children are abandoned after our initial first aid team administered treatment, and this discourages the children from participating in our sports programmes. Therefore, resourcing these facilities will go a long way to increase participation during our programmes.”
