A group calling itself, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Central Defence has jumped to the defence of party’s Savannah Regional Chairman, Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana popularly known as Professor Kalamonia.
The group in a statement signed by its secretary, Iklilu Dari accused some NPP bigwigs in the region of using every means possible to tarnish the reputation of the Regional Chairman.
The statement urged the general public to disregard a purported news story that the Regional Chairman’s campaign vehicle was seized over the awards of “none existent” contracts perpetuated by some faceless groups in the Savannah Region.
Iklilu Dari reaffirmed the group’s absolute support for Chairman Iddrisu Sulemana to win more Parliamentary seats for the NPP in the December 7, 2020, general elections.
Similarly, a Deputy Organizer of the NPP in the Damongo Constituency, Atabeah A. Raheem in an interview added that “Our chairman is hardworking at all times making our party very popular in the Region and no one can thwart his efforts.”
“The Chairman does not bear any grudges against the top hierarchy of the party in the Region and so the report that he is not accommodating is false and should be disregarded.”
On 25th April 2020, news went viral on social media that the official vehicle of the NPP Regional Chairman, Alhaji Sulemana Iddrisu, had been seized by a group of young men priding themselves as the party’s internal security force in the Region.
