Immediate past National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah says he is hopeful of winning the Nadowli Kaleo parliamentary seat with over 60% of the votes.

In the 2016 elections, he came third out of four contestants in the polls, behind the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Alban Sumana Kinsford Bagbin and the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Elvis Banoemuleng Botahn.

Alban Bagbin, who has consistently won the parliamentary seat since 1992 will not be contesting in the 2020 polls giving the chance for new candidates to via for the seat.

Mr Mornah in an interview on the Voters’ Diary on Citi FM said he is best suited to be the next Member of Parliament for the constituency on the ticket of the PNC.

“Over the period what the people are looking for is a worthy substitute to Honourable Alban Bagbin. They do not find that among the other available candidates.”

Mr Mornah further indicated that per his assessments, he has the unflinching support of the constituents.

“Even with my first shot, I was able to garner a considerable number of votes. Now that I have been around for some time, the people better understand my message. For the period I have been campaigning, the support has been overwhelming. And my people do not pretend, they stand by what they say. And to that extent, I believe what the people are telling me. And by assessment, I will win the seat with over 60% of the votes,” he said.

Bernard Mornah loses PNC chairmanship bid to Moses Dani Baah

Mr Mornah lost his bid to retain the chairmanship of the PNC after a keenly contested race at the party’s National Delegates Conference held on September 30, 2020.

After collation of votes from the 16 regions across the country, Mornah polled 1,266 votes while Moses Dani Baah polled 1,297.

In his concession speech, Mr Mornah wished the new leadership well and expressed hope that they will make the PNC a better political party.
