HR Focus Africa in partnership with MTN Ghana has launched the 4th edition of the Business Challenge competition! The launch was done virtually on social media.
The annual tertiary competition has been dubbed the MTN Pulse Business Challenge and is tailored to capture and nurture business leadership in students across tertiary schools in Ghana.
The competition promises to be an exciting one with a grand prize of GHC10,000 for the ultimate winner.
To participate in the competition, tertiary students are expected to register on the website of HR Focus via www.hrfocusuniverse.com/businesschallenge before 14th November 2020.
The entries will be shortlisted after which successful applicants will be invited to submit an elevator pitch introducing themselves and stating why they believe they can win the competition.
They are also required to subscribe to the MTN Pulse app in order to enjoy the added value of building their businesses.
The subsequent stages of the competition involve business case-study challenges that participants are expected to tackle with innovative business solutions.
The participant who exhibits the most innovation and strategic thinking will be judged as the champion of the competition.
Speaking to the Editor-in-chief of HR Focus Africa, Mrs. Ewurabena Neequaye shared the inspiration behind the structure of the competition.
She said, “The three stages of the competition have been carefully designed to hone excellence in the thought processes of team members.
Some qualities the team was careful to consider were: teamwork, critical and innovative thinking, and self-confidence.”
The partnership with MTN Pulse was a strategic one, seeing as both MTN Pulse and HR Focus Africa are particularly interested in engaging the youth in personal and business development.
The Senior Manager for Segment Marketing at MTN, Nana Asantewaa Amegashie commended HR Focus for organizing the Business Challenge to nurture business leaders.
She said, MTN’s success has been driven by its core values namely Leadership, Integrity, Relationship, Innovation, and Can-Do and we believe participants of this challenge will be motivated by the MTN story and the nurturing they will receive during the competition to excel”.
“We are also optimistic that contestants of the MTN Pulse Business Challenge will come up with innovative projects that will be useful to society and also generate revenue.
We urge them to “just be” their best, have fun, and in an unconventional way learn new skills”, she added.
MTN Pulse App was developed to provide voice, data, and other lifestyle packages to meet the needs of the youth and young professionals who mostly depend on the internet to study and also do their business.
The MTN Pulse Business Challenge has been running for the past four years and has seen the participation of tertiary institutions such as; UPSA, Pentecost University, KNUST, and University of Ghana Business School.
The competition is expected to last over a period of one month (from 2nd November to 10th December) and is open to all tertiary students, both in the public and private sectors.
In light of the physical restrictions of COVID-19, the competition will be organized by observing all protocols.
