The Concerned Members of the National Association of Institutional Suppliers, a collective of institutional suppliers providing essential services to educational institutions across Ghana, have issued a stern 14-day ultimatum to the government.
The group demands urgent action on unpaid arrears for the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic years.
The association, which supplies school uniforms, house dresses, and school clothes to all public Senior High Schools across the country, has been facing severe financial strain due to the Ministry of Education’s failure to settle outstanding payments. Many suppliers have resorted to securing bank loans to fulfill their contractual commitments, leading to mounting pressure from financial institutions and compounding interests.
The association, in a statement issued on Thursday, warned that failure to meet these demands within the stipulated 14-day period will lead to unique picketing at the Ministry of Education.
It also called on stakeholders, the public, and concerned citizens to stand with them in advocating for a swift and fair resolution to this matter, emphasizing that community solidarity is crucial in ensuring the continued provision of essential services to educational institutions across the nation.
