Potsin Polyclinic restores service after attack on staff, destruction of equipment

Service has been restored at the Potsin Polyclinic in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region after a group of individuals attacked the Polyclinic on January 4, 2024.

The group, numbering a little over ten, physically attacked medical officers on duty after accusing them of not releasing the body of a dead relative on time and not taking care of the relative, leading to his death.

A television set and some medical equipment were destroyed by the angry group believed to have come from Gomoa Potsin and Dominase.

The Medical Officer of the facility, Dr. Jerry Kwaku Vlad Nkegbe, says the damaged items are yet to be replaced, thus calling on the assembly and health authorities to ensure they are replaced promptly to help save lives.

“Service has been restored, calm has been regained, and staff at Potsin Polyclinic in the Central Region are going about their daily duties, rendering services to those who are sick. We hope that the situation remains the same and never repeats again.”

“However, the damaged items are yet to be replaced…Our DCE had promised to help defray some of the burden of the cost of those items. So as it stands now, we are still expecting a replacement of those items,” he stated.
