Ghana needs a long term financial plan – Prof Asuming

Economist Prof. Patrick Asuming has called for a long-term financial plan to address Ghana’s economic challenges.

Speaking in response to the 2024 Mid-Year Budget Review presentation, he expressed disappointment in the Finance Minister’s failure to provide a roadmap that could navigate the nation out of its challenges in the coming years.

In an interview with Citi News, he indicated that such a plan would allow for sustainable development in the country.

“I thought there would be a clear communication of what a long-term strategy might look like—a long-term strategy that will help us address the persistent currency problems.

“If you look at the second review of the IMF document, it points to some of the things the government has been doing. The IMF is pushing for some of those things to be removed.

“There’s a lot of discussion about the need for the government to streamline. I think we need to focus on a longer-term strategy, particularly on how we’re going to finance the economy moving forward,” Prof. Patrick Asuming said.
