The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry Michael Kofi Okyere Baafi has donated a mobile X-ray machine to Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua.
Mr Okyere Baafi assured management that plans are underway to get an MRI machine for the regional hospital.
“This is our hospital, it’s not out of place for me to come in to help… we have been able to secure an X-ray for the hospital. It will serve the interest of not only the people of Koforidua but the whole region. We pray they will take good care of it. We must work hard to get the hospital an MRI machine.
“I have done a lot of work on it, I have spoken to some partners outside the country, I pray that they will all come to our aid, and I pray that by the end of the year, we will be able to get them the machine.”
Management of the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua said an MRI machine will effectively boost their operations as the number one referral centre for all health facilities in the 33 districts of the region.
The Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr. Arko Akoto Ampaw said quality health care will improve significantly if the facility gets an MRI machine and an X-ray for prompt and immediate diagnosis.
