The Kyidomhene of the Nsawkwa Traditional Area, Nana Anokorang Sarpong, has publicly endorsed Alan Kyerematen’s vision for industrializing Ghana, describing him as the ideal leader the country needs at this critical time.
Speaking on behalf of the Nsawkwa Manhene during a visit by Alan Kyerematen’s Caravan Campaign Tour team on Sunday, October 6, 2024, the traditional leader praised the Movement for Change and Alliance for Revolutionary Change leader’s transformational agenda, particularly his focus on agriculture and industrialization as the key to solving Ghana’s economic woes.
According to Nana Anokorang Sarpong, Ghana has been in an economic crisis due to a lack of visionary leadership, and it is time for Ghanaians to rally behind a leader who is “tried and tested, committed, selfless, and thinks about the nation at large.”
He emphasized that Alan Kyerematen’s vast experience in both local and international politics, notably his tenure under former President John Agyekum Kufuor and President Akufo-Addo, as well as his work in countries like South Africa, sets him apart from other candidates.
“Alan’s records in Ghana’s politics speak for themselves, and I have no doubt that if we vote for him, he will change the country,” Nana Anokorang said.
The Kyidomhene lamented that despite Ghana’s 32 years of democracy and abundance of precious resources, the country has failed to develop due to poor leadership. “Ghana has not had a leader with foresight and the readiness to implement policies that bring the development we all cry for. It’s time we give Alan the chance to make that dream come true,” he stressed.
Nana Anokorang highlighted Ghana’s declining agricultural sector as a key reason for the country’s current struggles. He noted that although Ghana is known for agriculture, it has become incapable of feeding itself, with prices of goods skyrocketing due to excessive borrowing, rampant importation, and widespread corruption.
“What we need now is a leader like Alan who is ready to build Ghana through agriculture and industrialization because that is the only way to end importation and create an economy that exports and generates income to build our nation,” he said passionately.
Describing Alan Kyerematen as a “God-sent leader,” the Kyidomhene urged Ghanaians to support his bid for the presidency, stating that any leader who prioritizes agriculture and industrialization deserves to be held in high esteem. “If we want to develop as a nation, we must stand behind Alan because his vision is the solution to our problems,” Nana Anokorang affirmed.
He also appealed to Alan Kyerematen to remember the people of Nsawkwa if he becomes president. “We will vote for Alan because we know him well, and he is a close friend of our Lord the Manhene. ‘Mpaninfoɔ se wo biribi ne asoro boa a, wo kɔtɔkrɔ nka soro,’ meaning when a blessing is near your community, you must share in it. Nsawkwaman is far behind in development, and we hope Alan will not forget us when he becomes president,” he added.
Also speaking during the visit, Nana Ohene-Ntow, Senior Advisor and Director of Election Planning and Coordination for the Movement for Change and Alliance for Revolutionary Change, echoed the sentiments of the Kyidomhene, describing the 2024 election as a three-horse race between Alan Kyerematen, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and former President John Mahama. He maintained that among the three, Alan Kyerematen stands tall. “Alan is the candidate who can turn the fortunes of this country around, and we are grateful for the support and kind words from Nsawkwa,” he said.
Ohene-Ntow assured the Kyidomhene and the people of Nsawkwa that their concerns and appeals would be conveyed to Alan Kyerematen for consideration if he wins the presidency. “Your voices have been heard, and we will ensure Alan knows of your requests for development in Nsawkwaman,” he said.
As notable voices across Ghana continue to speak to the conscience of the nation, it is clear that more traditional leaders are recognizing the urgent need for a leader with vision, experience, and commitment to restore the country’s economic strength.
