Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has assured the rank and file of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the party will regroup and come back stronger after it failed to win the December 7 general elections.
During his concession speech at his residence on Tuesday, December 8, the NPP’s failed flagbearer urged the supporters of the party to be optimistic.
He assured the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to be led by John Dramani Mahama of the NPP’s full cooperation.
“We will not be a disruptive opposition, and our MPs will do a thorough job in Parliament.
“To the rank and file of our party, I know the feeling hurts, but I assure you that we will regroup and come back even stronger, and I urge you all to be optimistic.”
He further disclosed that he had already called and congratulated the president-elect, John Dramani Mahama.
“I have just called Mahama to congratulate him as the president-elect of Ghana. Ghana will win because the people have voted and they have voted for change and I respect the decision of the people
“I assure Mahama of my full support in the transition process, and I am ready to lend my support to the incoming government.”
