Peter Kwabena Gyesi, the Bono Regional Director of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) has urged school children to study to become well-informed about the provisions in the 1992 Constitution.
He emphasized that the schoolchildren needed to understand the Constitution better in order for them to be abreast with the laws guarding the country.
Peter Gyesi gave the advice when speaking at an inter-basic school quiz competition organized by the NCCE at Wamanafo in the Dormaa East District of the region to commemorate the 68th Independence Anniversary celebration.
He urged the schoolchildren to join the civic education clubs set up in their respective schools.
Emmanuel Hinneh, the Dormaa East District Director of NCCE stressed the need to help imbibe in the school children the ideals and principles of democratic governance, explaining that the competition was a way to inspire the schools to learn the 1992 Constitution.
At the end of the competition, the Sabwill Junior High School (JHS) emerged winner and received a trophy, followed by the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) JHS and the Saint James JHS in that order.
These schools were given a wall clock each, while each of the competing students received exercise books.
