Ghana’s Parliamentary Committee on Chieftaincy, Culture, and Religious Affairs has pledged its full support to religious and traditional leaders to promote and preserve Ghanaian culture for national development.
This commitment was made during the committee’s inaugural meeting, where the Chairman, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, emphasized the importance of culture in Ghana’s development, citing examples of countries that have achieved success through promoting their cultural heritage.
Dr. Asamoah highlighted the committee’s critical role in Ghana’s socio-economic development, given the significant impact of culture, religion, and chieftaincy on the nation’s progress since independence.
Ranking member on the committee, Laadi Ayii Ayamba assured that the committee would engage with traditional and religious leaders, organizations, and citizens to promote Ghana’s unique cultural diversity.
The committee’s efforts aim to harness Ghana’s cultural heritage for sustainable development, recognizing the country’s rich cultural tapestry and its potential for economic growth, community empowerment, and social cohesion.
