The Minister for Health and Member of Parliament for Juaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, on Friday, July 4, 2025, made a significant contribution to the Juaboso District Hospital by donating 10 brand-new motorcycles and five advanced neonatal incubators to enhance healthcare delivery in the district.

This gesture forms part of Akandoh’s continued efforts to improve health infrastructure and expand access to quality healthcare, particularly in rural and underserved communities.

The five neonatal incubators donated to the Juaboso District Hospital represent a major boost to the hospital’s capacity to care for premature babies and critically ill newborns. These incubators provide a controlled and sterile environment necessary for the survival and development of neonates, particularly those born underweight or before term.

Health professionals at the facility described the donation as a timely and life-saving intervention, noting that the hospital had struggled with limited neonatal equipment in the past, often resulting in referrals to distant facilities.

Hospital management, led by the Medical Superintendent, Dr. Deborah Mensah, expressed deep appreciation to the Minister and said the incubators would help save countless lives and reduce avoidable referrals.

In addition to the incubators, the ten motorcycles were distributed to frontline health facilities across the district to strengthen outreach services, especially in remote communities.

The beneficiaries of the motorbikes include:
1. Aboboyaa CHPS
2. Agyemadiem CHPS
3. Hwemehaa CHPS
4. CHPS Coordinator (District Health Directorate)
5. Mafia Health Centre
6. Eteso CHPS
7. Africa CHPS
8. Nkyensekokor CHPS
9. Topman CHPS
10. Bonsu Health Centre

These facilities were selected based on operational needs and the logistical challenges they face in delivering routine services such as immunisation, antenatal care, health education, and emergency response.

This latest support forms part of a series of interventions championed by Akandoh to strengthen healthcare delivery in Juaboso and beyond.

From securing essential medical equipment and advocating for increased staffing to improving facility infrastructure, the Health Minister has consistently demonstrated his dedication to public health.

District health officials and community leaders praised the Minister’s efforts and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining and making good use of the donated equipment.

The donation also aligns with the broader goal of the Ministry of Health to achieve universal health coverage and ensure that every Ghanaian, regardless of location, has access to quality and timely healthcare.
