The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has facilitated the transfer of the mother of the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, to Accra for specialised medical care following the tragic military helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6.

The crash, which occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, claimed the lives of eight individuals, including high-profile government officials—Dr. Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed.

Dr. Omane Boamah was reportedly the only child of his mother, prompting the Health Minister to intervene and ensure her well-being during this difficult period.

According to officials, a few of her personal belongings were transported with her, and designated medical personnel have been assigned to monitor her condition closely in Accra.

Some close family members were also asked to accompany her.

Meanwhile, authorities have retrieved the bodies of the victims from the crash site for forensic examination and identification as investigations into the cause of the incident continue.

The confirmed list of casualties includes:

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah – Minister for Defence

Dr. Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed – Member of Parliament for Tamale Central and Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation

Dr. Samuel Sarpong – Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress

Samuel Aboagye – Former Parliamentary Candidate

Sergeant Leader -Peter Bafemi Anala

Flying Officer -Manin Twum-Ampadu

Sergeant -Ernest Addo Mensah

The list was confirmed by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, who described the incident as a national tragedy.
