The Institute of Public Relations (IPR), Ghana, has joined the nation in mourning the loss of eight prominent Ghanaians who perished in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
In a heartfelt statement issued by IPR President Ms. Esther A. N. Cobbah, the institute described the victims as national heroes whose lives were defined by their unwavering dedication to public service and the development of the country.
“We mourn the untimely passing of Honourable Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence; Honourable Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation; Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC; Mr. Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala; Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu; and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah,” the statement read.
“These men dedicated their lives to public service and to safeguarding the peace, development and progress of our nation. Their commitment, patriotism and sense of duty remain an inspiration to all,” it added.
The IPR extended condolences to the bereaved families, President John Dramani Mahama, the Government of Ghana, the Ghana Armed Forces, and all citizens affected by the tragedy.
“We stand in solidarity with all Ghanaians during this period of profound grief. May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace and may their legacy continue to light the path of national service,” the statement concluded.
The crash, which has shocked the nation, is being remembered not just for its tragedy but also for the immense loss of leadership, service, and sacrifice it represents.
