The Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Smile Gavua Dzisi, has urged industry players to partner with universities and invest in the talent pipeline, noting that today’s students will become the future workforce.
She encouraged industries to hire graduates and invest in upgrading their skills.
Professor Dzisi further stressed the importance of aligning national digital transformation strategies with academic programmes from the pre-tertiary level, strengthening industry–academia linkages, and exploring targeted funding mechanisms to support technology education infrastructure and faculty development.
She made these remarks when she delivered the Keynote address at the 20th Anniversary Seminar of the Computer Science Students Association ( COMPSSA) at the Koforidua Technical University under the theme “Celebrating 20 years of Innovation and Impacts; The Algorithm of Progress for Ghana’s Digital Transformation and Accelerated Development.”
She further urged the management of Koforidua Technical University to mentor the next generation, prioritise the Computer Science Department as a flagship strategic initiative, and create an enabling environment to attract top tech talent.
“Seek partnership, strategic collaboration, mentor the next generation, not for today’s jobs. Ministry of Education, the GES, we must commit to supporting this vital national asset. We have to work to align national digital transformation strategies with academic programmes right from the pre-tertiary level,” she said.
