The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has ordered the transfer of the headteacher and other staff of the Buokrom Estate M/A Basic School following allegations of charging and collecting unapproved fees from pupils.

In a statement, the Assembly indicated that a disciplinary committee has been constituted to investigate the matter and ensure accountability and discipline.

The alleged misconduct came to light after a TikTok user highlighted the issue on the platform. Authorities acted swiftly to verify the claims, and preliminary findings confirmed the collection of unauthorised fees, prompting the current disciplinary actions.

Speaking to Citi News, the Public Relations Officer for KMA, Henrietta Afia Konadu Aboagye, noted that the committee will convene on August 15, 2025, to hear from the affected teachers and determine the facts.

“Based on evidence and the GES code of conduct, a disciplinary committee has been established so that it can take the necessary precautions and get to know what actually transpired. They will sit on the 15th of August 2025 to be able to hear the teachers and the Headteacher.

“For the interim, the mayor has directed that the Headteacher and the affected teachers be transferred pending the outcome of the full investigations,” he stated.
