The Dominase District Police Command has arrested a robbery suspect at Dabenyin in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
The suspect, Awudu Ibrahim, according to a police statement shared with Citi News, approached a mobile money vendor at Dabenyin around 7:30 pm on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, under the pretext of purchasing airtime.
According to the police statement, which is dated August 28, Ibrahim snatched the victim’s bag containing a lump sum of money and attempted to flee the scene while firing gunshots.
The victim’s continuous shouting, however, drew the attention of some community members who mobilised, chased and successfully arrested Ibrahim.
He was subsequently handed over to the patrol team attached to the Dominase Police Command and later transferred to the Central East Regional Headquarters.
Police retrieved one loaded single-barreled gun and a bag containing an unspecified amount of money belonging to the victim from the suspect.
Police have launched a manhunt for the other suspect, who successfully bolted and is therefore calling on the general public to assist with reliable information that’ll lead to his arrest.
The Central East Regional Command has assured the public of its continuous readiness to tackle crime in the area.
This arrest follows earlier ones conducted by the command following a recent spike in robbery activities in that particular enclave.
