Founder and leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Percival Kofi Akpaloo, was on Thursday, September 11, released from the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after spending several days in detention.
Akpaloo was arrested on September 3, 2025, over allegations of fraud, causing financial loss to the state, dissipation of public funds, and money laundering.
He had earlier been granted police bail of GH¢10 million with two sureties to be justified but remained in custody until meeting the bail conditions.
His prolonged detention sparked concern among some party supporters, who demanded his immediate release.
It is not yet clear whether Akpaloo will face further legal action. EOCO is expected to provide updates on the case in due course.
