The Amasaman Circuit Court has granted a 27-year-old commercial motor rider a GHC50,000 bail with two sureties after he was accused of threatening to kill a police officer.

The court, supervised by relieving judge Mrs. Akosua Anokyewaa Adjepong, directed that the sureties must be legally employed, properly justified, and resident within the court’s jurisdiction. Investigators were further instructed to verify that both the accused, Alex Yeboah, and his sureties have fixed places of abode.

As part of the bail conditions, Yeboah is required to report to the case investigator every Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The prosecution was also ordered to complete its disclosures and serve them on the defence. The case has been adjourned to December 12, 2025.

Presenting the facts, Chief Inspector Salifu Nashiru identified the complainant, Mawuli Akaba, as a police officer stationed at the National Police Headquarters.

He told the court that on October 14, both the complainant and the accused were visiting a friend in Sapeiman who had recently returned from abroad when two uninvited women arrived.

According to the prosecution, a disagreement broke out between the two men over the presence of the women. The confrontation allegedly escalated, with Yeboah threatening to stab and kill the complainant. A report was subsequently filed with the Amasaman Police, leading to Yeboah’s arrest.
