The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has refuted reports by online news portal Norvanreport.com alleging that Mr. Kevin Okyere, Chief Executive Officer and promoter of Springfield Energy, has been arrested or detained in Dubai following EOCO’s supposed failure to act on a fraud petition.
In a statement issued on Sunday, November 2, 2025, EOCO described the publication as “false and misleading,” urging the public to disregard the claims.
According to EOCO, there are currently two active investigations involving Springfield Energy—one based on a petition filed against the company, and another concerning an ongoing case between Springfield Energy and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST).
“It is the policy directive of the leadership of EOCO that investigations must precede arrest and not the reverse,” the Office stated, emphasising that the case involving BOST and Springfield Energy is being treated as a priority due to its potential impact on BOST’s finances and the broader economy.
The Office expressed disappointment that Norvanreport.com failed to seek clarification before publishing the story. “Though EOCO does not comment on active investigations, it is regrettable that Norvanreport.com did not seek clarification from EOCO before running the false story,” it noted.
EOCO reaffirmed its commitment to investigating and prosecuting economic and organised crimes in Ghana, assuring the public of its diligence and professionalism in handling all ongoing cases.
The statement concluded by urging the public to ignore the publication and remain confident that EOCO “is actively working on not one, but two investigations involving Springfield Energy.”
