As part of its 9th Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (CR&S) Week, FirstBank Ghana has donated GH¢200,000 to five Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to support projects in education, healthcare, and community development.
The donation forms part of activities marking this year’s CR&S celebration, themed “Hands of Kindness.”
The beneficiaries include Making Learning Happen, which supports access to educational resources for deprived schools; Lifeline for Childhood Cancer Foundation, which assists children and families affected by childhood cancers; and the Heal Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Project (HeKAP), which is driving infrastructure improvements at the hospital. Each organisation received GH¢50,000.
The Ghana National Polio Plus Committee received GH¢30,000 to advance child health and polio eradication efforts, while Rotaract District 9104, focused on youth-led community development initiatives, received GH¢20,000.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the bank’s Head Office Annexe in Cantonments, Accra, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FirstBank Ghana, Mr. Victor Yaw Asante, said the CR&S agenda remains central to the bank’s long-term vision.
“Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability reaffirm our social licence to operate and remind our stakeholders that we exist to create more than just economic value,” Mr. Asante stated.
He emphasised that the bank’s commitment to investing in people and social causes reinforces its relevance and credibility in society.
“When our customers, regulators, and partners see our dedication to social progress, it deepens their confidence in our integrity and long-term vision. This trust translates into stronger brand equity and customer loyalty,” he said.
Mr. Asante noted that FirstBank Ghana aligns its operations with global Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards, ensuring its business model remains future-proof and socially responsible.
“By promoting environmental stewardship, social impact, and ethical governance, we are building a growth model that benefits both society and the environment,” he added.
He also highlighted that CR&S initiatives enhance staff engagement, giving employees a meaningful opportunity to contribute beyond their daily duties.
“When our staff take part in community initiatives, they connect more deeply with our values and develop a shared sense of purpose,” he said.
Expressing appreciation on behalf of the beneficiaries, Chairman of HeKAP, Mr. Samuel Adu-Boakye, commended FirstBank for its continued partnership.
“This is the second time FirstBank Ghana has supported our project. The assistance will go a long way in improving healthcare delivery for thousands of patients who visit Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital each year,” he said.
The CR&S Week celebration, which runs from October 27 to November 1, 2025, encourages staff and partners to embody acts of kindness and service to humanity.
Mr. Asante urged all stakeholders to make “Hands of Kindness” more than a campaign — but a lasting mindset.
“When kindness becomes culture, impact becomes inevitable,” he said.
