The Ministry of Finance has clarified that the GH¢110 million allocated in the 2026 budget for the 24-Hour Economy programme is intended as a facilitating amount and does not constitute full funding for the initiative.
Isaac Fraikue, Director of Budget at the Ministry of Finance, explained that the allocation is meant to support initial activities while additional financing is being mobilised from the private sector and development partners.
“There is no activity in the budget that is not funded. It is not a matter of waiting until we get there. The GH¢110 million is not for the full funding of the 24-Hour Economy project; it is just a facilitating amount,” he said.
He added that the Ministry has already engaged with key private sector players and development institutions such as the Development Bank of Ghana and the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) to secure further financing.
“Anything in the budget document has financing backing. The major focus now is on physical discipline, and we anticipate that from now onwards, Ghanaians will observe the implementation closely,” he said.
The clarification follows the announcement by the Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, during the presentation of the 2026 budget on Thursday, November 13, that GH¢110 million had been set aside for the implementation of the 24-Hour Economy programme, aimed at boosting economic activities and creating jobs.
