The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has announced significant progress in gold aggregation, exports, reserve growth and sector regulation in its statutory quarterly report covering July to September 2025.

According to the report sighted by Citi News in Accra on Thursday November 27, the Board aggregated a total of 26,153.98 kilograms of gold from the Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining (ASM) sector during the period. The gold, valued at approximately US$2.76 billion, reflects ongoing efforts to streamline and formalise the ASM value chain.

In support of Ghana’s monetary reserves, GoldBod procured 119.78 kilograms of gold from large-scale mining (LSM) producers for the Bank of Ghana. This acquisition, valued at US$11.82 million, contributes to the central bank’s strategy of strengthening the nation’s gold-backed reserves.

Gold exports also recorded strong performance in the third quarter. ASM operations exported 25,780.60 kilograms, valued at US$2.71 billion, while LSM producers exported 24,911.21 kilograms, valued at US$2.43 billion. Combined, the figures underscore gold’s continued dominance in Ghana’s export earnings.

On regulatory compliance, the Gold Board reported that 577 licences were processed and issued under the newly introduced tiered licensing regime. These included 432 Tier 2 licences, 123 Tier 1 licences, and 22 approvals for self-financed aggregators.

The Board also issued two licence suspensions and one revocation, reflecting its ongoing effort to enforce standards and promote responsible mining practices.
