Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has called for stronger partnerships between Africa and Europe to promote job creation across both continents.

Speaking at the Africa Growth and Opportunity Research in Action Conference (AGORA 2025) in Palermo, Italy, Professor Opoku-Agyemang urged European investors to channel their resources into sectors that empower youth and women, stressing that such investments will yield sustainable and inclusive growth for both regions.
“To our investors and partners here today and elsewhere, you are all welcome to Ghana, not only to do business, but to help all of us build a future we can share. Together, we can fill many of the remaining gaps. Invest where productivity meets possibility. Stand with a nation where the energy of the youth, the leadership of women, and the vision of the government move together,” she said.

She also highlighted that such collaborations would support investments in innovation and facilitate the sharing of technological expertise.
“Africa and Europe must build together as equals, investing in innovation, transferring technology, and creating jobs that serve both continents. Ghana stands ready. We are not merely a beneficiary. We are a partner,” she stated.

Prof Opoku-Agyemang is in Palermo, Italy, for the inaugural 2025 AGORA Conference.
The Conference, which started on November 3 and ends on November 5, 2025, convenes top economists, researchers, private sector leaders, and policymakers to explore two transformative themes: “Growth and the Energy Transition” and “Agricultural Transformation and Job Creation”.
