President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to expand access to higher education through the establishment of three new public universities across the country.
As part of efforts to support balanced regional growth and meet growing demand for quality tertiary education, two universities will be set up through international partnerships: one in Kintampo in the Bono East Region and another in Jasikan in the Oti Region.
In addition, President Mahama, during the State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Friday, February 27, revealed that a grant from China has been secured to establish a public university in Damongo, located in the Savannah Region.
“To expand access to higher education and support balanced regional growth and meet the rising demand for quality tertiary education, we have entered international partnerships to establish two new public universities. One in Kintampo in the Bono East Region, another in Jasikan in the Oti Region.
“I am happy to also announce that a grant has been sourced from China to establish a new public university in Damongo in the Savannah Region,” he said.
