The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has disbursed a total of more than GH¢392 million in vetted claims to healthcare providers across the country for services rendered under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) between December 2025 and January 2026.
According to the Authority, the payments form part of its commitment to the timely reimbursement of service providers to ensure the smooth delivery of healthcare services to NHIS members nationwide.
A statement from the Finance Directorate of the NHIA disclosed that a total amount of GH¢392,031,851.26 was paid to health facilities after claims submitted by providers in the previous year were duly vetted and approved.
The breakdown of the payments shows that in December 2025, the Authority paid GH¢301,658,338.13 in claims. This was followed by an additional GH¢90,373,513.13 disbursed in January 2026, bringing the total amount paid during the two-month period to nearly GH¢400 million.
The Finance Directorate further indicated that the bulk of the payments went to public and private health facilities, which together accounted for approximately 80.55 percent of the total claims paid during the period. Mission health facilities received the remaining 19.45 percent.
In nominal terms, public health facilities received GH¢157,164,301.62, while private health facilities were paid GH¢158,630,317.29. Mission health facilities received a total of GH¢76,237,232.35.
The NHIA noted that the payments reflect its resolve to promptly settle claims to enable healthcare providers to continue delivering quality and uninterrupted services to NHIS members across the country.
