Two people have sustained cutlass wounds following a violent clash between supporters of two chiefs in Kpandai in the Northern Region over a gravel pit.

The dispute centres on a gravel pit being used for the rehabilitation of the Dobong community road.

According to the branch chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who was present at the scene when the incident occurred, the land was granted by the Nkanchina chief for the extraction of gravel for the road project.

However, another chief in Kpandai, identified as Nana Ntosah, allegedly ordered them to halt operations.

The NDC chairman explained that Nana Ntosah reportedly sent payloaders to the site, but supporters of the Nkanchina chief resisted the move and prevented the equipment from operating.

This disagreement escalated into a violent confrontation, during which two people sustained cutlass wounds, while six motorbikes were set ablaze.

Police quickly intervened to prevent further clashes. The injured persons are currently receiving treatment at the Kpandai District Hospital.
