Claim
A video circulating on Facebook and shared by New Patriotic Party communicator Awal Mohammed suggests that Vice-President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang was dancing to the song Yentie Obiaa by Daddy Lumba.
Verdict
False. The video has been manipulated. The Vice-President was dancing to a live performance by singer Efya, not Yentie Obiaa.
Claim
A member of the communications team of the New Patriotic Party, Awal Mohammed, shared a 20-second video on Facebook appearing to show Vice-President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang dancing to the song Yentie Obiaa.
In the accompanying caption, he criticised the Vice-President and other female government appointees, suggesting they were dancing to the politically symbolic song at the Jubilee House while other national issues persisted.
The post has since gained significant engagement online, attracting over 275,000 views, more than 5,000 reactions, and over 2,000 comments. Additionally, it has gained traction as it has been shared by other social media users.
The clip carries the logo of Channel One TV and appears to have been recorded during the First Annual National Forum on Women in Government and Media held at the Jubilee House.
Because the video pairs a song that has been seen as politically negative with footage of the Vice-President, Citi Verify examined the claim.
Verification
Using visual cues from the clip, Citi Verify confirmed that the footage was taken during the First Annual National Forum on Women in Government and Media held at the Jubilee House on February 19.
A longer version of the same footage published by Channel One TV on Instagram shows Vice-President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang dancing at the event.
However, the original video reveals that the music playing at the event was a live performance by singer Efya.
A comparison of both videos shows identical visuals, confirming they were recorded at the same moment. The key difference is the audio: the longer, original clip contains the live performance and ambient crowd sound, while the Facebook video shared by Awal Mohammed replaces the original audio with Yentie Obiaa.
This audio replacement creates the false impression that the Vice-President was dancing to the politically charged song.
Conclusion
The video shared by Awal Mohammed is misleading. The original audio has been replaced with Yentie Obiaa, altering the context of the footage. In reality, Vice-President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang was dancing to a live performance by Efya during the event.
