Ecobank Ghana has appointed veteran banker Alhassan Andani as Chairman of its Board of Directors, effective Thursday, March 26, 2026.

According to sources, the appointment is aimed at strengthening governance and strategic leadership within the bank.

The development was announced in a notice issued by the bank, which described it as a significant milestone as Ecobank Ghana seeks to deepen institutional resilience and consolidate its position in the country’s competitive financial services sector.

Chief Andani brings more than 36 years of experience in banking and finance to the role, with a distinguished career spanning corporate and investment banking, financial management, executive leadership, and corporate governance.

He previously served as Managing Director of Stanbic Bank Ghana and as President of the Ghana Association of Banks, roles that cemented his reputation as one of the country’s most influential banking professionals.

Ecobank noted that his extensive boardroom experience and policy insight would be instrumental as the bank navigates a rapidly evolving financial landscape shaped by digital transformation, regulatory reforms, and shifting customer expectations.

Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, Abena Osei-Poku, welcomed the appointment, stating that it reflects the bank’s commitment to strong governance and sustainable growth.

She expressed confidence that Chief Andani’s deep understanding of Ghana’s financial ecosystem and his track record in leading major institutions would help guide Ecobank’s next phase of expansion and innovation.

“We are honoured to welcome Chief Alhassan Andani to the Ecobank family. His wealth of experience, visionary leadership, and strong industry credibility make him the ideal person to guide our Board at this pivotal time,” she said.
