Ghanaian interior designer Belle Yemofio has been honoured at the prestigious Italy International Design Award held in Milan, earning international recognition for her work.
The Founder and Creative Director of EllenDavis Interior Design, and author of The Art and Science of Interior Design, received a top accolade for her project, The Curve Residence. The project won the Professional Award for Residential Space in the Innovation Award category—one of the competition’s highest honours—after evaluation by a panel of global design experts.
The Italy International Design Award is widely regarded as a benchmark for excellence in contemporary design, celebrating innovation in aesthetics, form, and functionality, and attracting leading designers and studios from around the world.
The Curve Residence stood out for its seamless blend of modern sophistication and functional living. The project reflects Yemofio’s signature approach, combining spatial harmony, refined material use, and a strong focus on user experience. Its thoughtful detailing presents a contemporary African narrative with broad international appeal.

The recognition marks a significant milestone not only for Yemofio but also for Ghana’s design industry, underscoring the growing global influence of African designers and the importance of authentic storytelling in design.

“I am humbled that a quiet dream I once had in my bedroom has led me to this path,” she said. “Standing on a global stage in an iconic design city is truly remarkable. Thank you to IIDA for recognising African interior design and celebrating us.”
Through EllenDavis Interior Design, Yemofio continues to push creative boundaries and elevate modern African interior aesthetics, positioning herself as a rising force in the global design space.
