Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed that educating the girl child remains a key priority under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama, describing it as central to the government’s reset agenda.
According to her, the government’s continued investment in the construction and upgrading of school facilities across the country reflects its commitment to improving access to quality education, particularly for girls.
Speaking at the 80th anniversary celebration of Holy Child School, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang explained that the initiative is aimed at strengthening foundational learning and providing the support needed for girls to progress in their academic journeys.
“Educating girls has impacts that go beyond the personal, and the philosophy remains relevant even today. Therefore, advancing girls’ education remains key and a central focus of our administration’s vision and policy,” she stated.

The Vice President also revealed that the Standards-Based Curriculum is currently under review to include additional subjects such as coding, robotics and basic ethics.
She noted that the review seeks to equip students with the skills required to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world while also promoting responsible and ethical behaviour online.
“The standards-based curriculum is being reviewed in light of robotics, coding and artificial intelligence, with a focus on ethics and responsible digital citizenship,” she added.
