Prudential Bank extended its International Women’s Day celebrations to Labone Senior High School, hosting an empowerment session for final year female students on the theme “PBL Women Empowerment Series: Ignite Her for a Sustainable Future.”

The event brought together experienced professionals from banking, business, medicine, and corporate leadership to inspire the young women preparing for the next phase of their lives.

Forming part of the Bank’s drive to empower young women through mentorship and knowledge sharing, the programme sought to encourage self-belief, discipline and leadership while equipping these young women with practical life skills.

Delivering an address on behalf of management, Chief Risk Officer (CRO) Randall Ofori-Boachie linked the global theme of International Women’s Day, “Give to Gain” and the programme’s theme to the UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality. He expressed the Bank’s belief that investing in young women positions them as agents of change who will drive environmental, economic, and social sustainability.

“As a Bank, we have embraced sustainability, and remain committed to integrating responsible, inclusive, and socially impactful practices into our operations. The promotion of Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is pivotal to our sustainability strategy because we firmly believe that empowering women and girls accelerates progress not only for households and organizations, but for society at large.” He said.

Head of Human Resources, Lilian Antwiwaa Asante, shared her personal journey with the students, encouraging them to embrace life’s unexpected turns. She recounted how a passionate physics teacher inspired her to excel in science before she made a bold pivot to law school and eventually found her calling in human resources.

“What I’m telling all of you is that the sky is the limit,” she told them. “Today, we are igniting you. We are putting fire in your bellies and fire in your hearts to aspire for greater heights.”

The panel of speakers took turns to address the students on a range of topics including self-branding; turns passion to profit making ventures; taking care of their bodies among others.

The Headmistress of Labone Senior High School expressed profound gratitude to Prudential Bank for the initiative and noted how it would motivate the young women going forward.

“Your presence and support will undoubtedly motivate our girls to dream bigger, work harder and confidently pursue leadership now and in the future.” She said.

The event was hosted by the management of Labone Senior High School. MasterCard Ghana partnered with Prudential Bank to support the programme.
