Spokesperson for the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Armiyawo Shaibu, has described Ramadan as a transformative period that refines the spiritual life of Muslims, urging the faithful to fully embrace its purpose.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Monday, March 23, Sheikh Shaibu explained that Ramadan should be understood as a unique “space in time” that offers an opportunity for personal and spiritual renewal.

“I mean, space and time define our life here on Earth. So if you can conceptualise Ramadan as a space in time, it means that you occupy that space.

”So what happens in that space? I see it as a crucible, a furnace in which a precious metal is subjected to heat so that it can be refined. The refinement is the Muslim who emerges from Ramadan,” he said.

He noted that the holy month presents a chance for Muslims to confront and correct inconsistencies in their lives, stressing the need for self-discipline and reflection.

According to Sheikh Shaibu, the period serves as a spiritual “refinery” that shapes individuals into better versions of themselves. “So it is a refinery. You go through it and come out transformed, just like gold,” he added.
