Mohammed Abdul-Salam, Director-General of the National Lottery Authority, has urged Muslims to shun idol worship, emphasising sincere devotion and upright conduct.
Speaking in an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Face to Face on Tuesday, April 21, he said believers are encouraged to do good to the best of their ability while relying on God’s mercy.
“As a Muslim, avoid the sins that involve idol worship, because the Almighty Allah says that we as humans cannot, in our wildest imagination, be able to measure the spread of his forgiveness. We’re enjoined to always do good to the best of our ability,” he stated.
He added that, in Islam, intentions are central to judgment.
“God judges your intention and not the act,” he said.
Mr Abdul-Salam also said he has no regrets about leading the institution as a Muslim, despite criticism that followed his appointment.
“I have always stated, and have never regretted accepting the position. Every day presents a different set of challenges as to what to do to bring improvements. We have been working to ensure that the NLA takes its proper place,” he said.
