The Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI), Samuel Basintale Amadu, has underscored the need for stronger interagency collaboration at Ghana’s borders, stressing that joint efforts are essential to safeguarding national security.
On the third day of his working tour of the Bono Region, Mr Amadu called on security agencies operating along the country’s frontiers to complement each other’s work and deepen cooperation in executing their mandates.
He emphasised that “teamwork at the local level should reflect the coordinated approach already being implemented at the national level,” noting that effective collaboration among agencies such as Customs, NARCOC and other security services would enhance border management and contribute to national stability.
Addressing officers during visits to the Gonokrom Border, Kato Checkpoint, Berekum Sector, Kofibadukrom, Kofikumikrom, Yaakrom, Gonokrom Sectors and the Nkrakwanta Border Control, the CGI encouraged personnel to remain united, disciplined and proactive in addressing operational challenges.
He commended officers for their dedication and acknowledged the support of stakeholders in advancing the mission of the Ghana Immigration Service.
In a related development, Mr Amadu paid a courtesy call on the Municipal Chief Executive of Dormaa, Dominic Adomah Ameyam, where discussions focused on strengthening institutional cooperation and addressing local security concerns.
The Bono Region tour forms part of the CGI’s broader initiative to assess operational challenges, motivate personnel and reinforce the importance of interagency collaboration in securing Ghana’s borders.
