The Ghana Police Service has announced the deployment of a special reinforcement team and armoured vehicles to Gushegu and Karaga in the Northern Region following recent clashes in the area.
In a Facebook post, the Service indicated that the move forms part of efforts by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to strengthen security and maintain law and order in the affected communities.
According to the Police, the deployed team comprises operational officers who will work in collaboration with personnel from the Northern Regional Police Command to intensify patrols and enhance security presence.
“The team will work with officers of the Northern Regional Police Command to intensify patrols and enhance security in the towns and surrounding communities,” the statement noted.
The deployment is expected to reassure residents and prevent any further escalation of tensions, as police continue to monitor the situation closely.
