Lawyers for Joana Quaye have firmly rejected allegations made by her ex-husband, businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye, describing the claims as “substantially untrue” and cautioning against public commentary on a matter currently before the courts.
In a statement issued on Monday, April 27, by the law firm Messrs. Dame & Partners, the legal team said it had taken note of comments made by Mr Quaye during an interview on the “Delay Show” on Saturday, April 25, which has since been widely circulated on traditional and social media platforms.
The lawyers expressed concern that the interview was granted while an appeal remains pending at the Court of Appeal against “Final Orders” issued by the High Court in Accra on January 20, 2026. They argued that such public discussions risk prejudicing ongoing judicial proceedings.
“Whilst denying all the allegations made by Richard Nii Armah Quaye as untrue, we state that the fact of the marriage between the parties in 2010 is a matter of public record and cannot be changed by a self-serving ex post facto interview,” the statement said.
The legal team further referenced court documents, indicating that the couple jointly established Quick Credit & Investment Micro-Credit Company Limited in 2011 after their marriage, with both initially listed as shareholders. They also claimed that issues relating to the transfer of shares and acquisition of assets through the company are already before the court.
According to the lawyers, “the subsequent secret and illegal transfer of Joana Quaye’s shares” and the use of the company to acquire properties and establish other businesses form part of the evidence being considered in the ongoing proceedings.
They also cautioned that continued public commentary on the matter could be seen as an attempt to influence public perception and interfere with the judicial process, stressing that the appeal has been properly filed and is being handled according to court procedures.
The lawyers further dismissed claims regarding Mr Quaye’s pre-marriage financial standing, describing them as “unfounded” and irrelevant to the substantive issues before the court.
“Our client, Joana Quaye, will continue to maintain her silence and place her faith in the justice system of Ghana in the hope that she will get justice for the wrongs and abuse inflicted on her by Richard Nii Armah Quaye as well as an equitable distribution of all the properties acquired during the marriage between the parties, as required under the laws of Ghana,” the statement added.
