The Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has extended best wishes to candidates sitting for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), encouraging them to approach the examination with confidence, honesty, and determination.
More than 620,000 candidates across Ghana are taking part in the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination, which began on Monday, May 4, 2026.
The nationwide examination, conducted by the West African Examinations Council, will run until May 11, in 20,395 schools expected to participate.
In a statement from her office issued on Monday, May 4, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed confidence that the candidates would give off their best after years of preparation, discipline, and hard work.
“The Vice President is confident that all candidates will give off their very best after years of effort, discipline, and preparation,” the statement said.
She urged students across the country to remain focused and write the examination with confidence and integrity.
“She encourages all candidates to approach the examination with confidence, honesty and determination,” the statement added.
The Vice President also commended the Ghana Education Service, teachers, parents and other stakeholders for their commitment toward preparing students for the national examination.
At the same time, she reminded supervisors, invigilators and school authorities of the need to uphold the highest standards of fairness and transparency throughout the examination process.
According to the statement, maintaining integrity in the conduct of the examination is essential to ensuring a credible process and outcome for all candidates.
