The Chamber of Agribusiness Ghana (CAG) has congratulated Benin’s newly inaugurated President, Romuald Wadagni, describing his assumption of office as a sign of a new generation of African leadership.
In a statement issued on May 26, the Chamber said President Wadagni’s inauguration represents more than the swearing-in of a Head of State, stressing that it symbolises renewed hope for economic transformation, democratic growth and youth-driven leadership across the continent.
The Chamber noted that at 49 years old, President Wadagni is among Africa’s youngest democratically elected leaders and carries a strong electoral mandate following his victory in the presidential election.
According to the Chamber, his rise from international finance and executive leadership into public service and eventually the presidency demonstrates discipline, competence and commitment to national development.
The statement highlighted his previous role as Benin’s Minister of Economy and Finance, where he was credited with helping improve economic growth and reducing the country’s fiscal deficit.
The Chamber of Agribusiness Ghana said President Wadagni’s leadership journey serves as inspiration to many young Africans who believe leadership should be based on vision, innovation and service rather than age alone.
It added that his presidency sends a strong message that Africa’s future lies in the hands of a new generation determined to drive reform, entrepreneurship and economic growth.
The Chamber further expressed confidence in President Wadagni’s commitment to economic transformation, youth employment, private sector growth, infrastructure development and regional trade integration.
It also called for stronger collaboration between Ghana and Benin in agribusiness, agro-industrialisation, agricultural trade and food systems development under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The statement concluded with a call for unity and prosperity across the continent, expressing hope that President Wadagni’s administration would strengthen democracy and promote inclusive development in Benin and across West Africa.
The statement was signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Agribusiness Ghana, Anthony Kofituo Morrison.
