The Court of Appeal has overturned a High Court decision that denied a request by lawyers for former National Signals Bureau Director-General Kwabena Adu-Boahene for further disclosures in his ongoing criminal trial.
In a ruling delivered earlier on Thursday, May 28, the Court of Appeal ordered prosecutors to provide the documents being requested by the defence in relation to the case involving the alleged theft of GH¢49.1 million.
However, the court rejected part of the request seeking the publication of National Security account details dating from the era of former President Jerry John Rawlings to the present administration.
The court also dismissed an application by the defence for a stay of proceedings, meaning the trial at the High Court will continue.
Kwabena Adu-Boahene is currently standing trial over allegations of misappropriating GH¢49.1 million in state funds linked to a cyber-defence software procurement deal.
