Ex-NAFCO boss, wife granted bail, placed on travel ban in GH¢50m trial

The High Court in Accra has granted bail to former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company Limited (NAFCO), Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, and his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni, in the ongoing criminal trial involving alleged financial loss and corruption-related offences tied to over GH¢50 million in public funds.

Hanan Abdul-Wahab was admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢60 million, while Faiza Seidu Wuni was granted bail in the sum of GH¢3.5 million, with both accused persons required to provide two justified sureties each to be justified.

The ruling comes after both accused persons pleaded not guilty to a revised 20-count charge sheet filed by the Attorney-General’s Department.

In addition to the bail sums, the court imposed stringent conditions aimed at securing the attendance of the accused persons throughout the trial.

The court ordered that both accused be placed on a stop list at all entry and exit points of the country, effectively restricting their ability to travel internationally while the case is ongoing.

They have also been directed to deposit their passports with the Registry of the Court.

As part of the bail conditions, the accused persons are required to report to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) once every fortnight.

The court further noted that the accused persons shall continue to be subject to their existing EOCO bail terms, citing concerns that they may not immediately meet the newly imposed terms.

The court has thus given the accused persons until 21 May 2026 to fully comply with the bail conditions, including securing sureties and fulfilling all administrative requirements attached to their release.

On the prosecution side, the court directed the State to file its witness statements and disclosures within seven days, where the same have not already been filed.

The accused persons have also been ordered to file a list of witnesses they intend to call in their defence, should they choose to do so.

The matter has been adjourned to 28 May 2026 at 12:00 noon for a Case Management Conference (CMC).
