Heath Goldfields has settled all outstanding salaries, severance packages, and statutory arrears owed to both former and current workers of the Bogoso-Prestea Mine, bringing closure to years of agitation following the exit of Future Global Resources.

The payments cover liabilities that had remained unresolved for years, affecting hundreds of workers who had repeatedly called for the settlement of their entitlements.

Management of Heath Goldfields, together with the Branch Chairman of the Ghana Mine Workers’ Union at the company, led a thank-you walk to the company’s management to acknowledge the resolution of the matter.

Speaking to Citi News, the Managing Director of Heath Goldfields, Patrick Mensah, and the Union Branch Chairman, Patrick Lartey, confirmed that the majority of affected workers had received their payments, with only a few completing final verification processes.

Mr Patrick Mensah explained that nearly all beneficiaries had been paid.

“The severance, particularly, was for about 212 workers. As of yesterday, about 210 had come, cleared themselves, and received their money. The remaining workers, I believe, are on their way to complete the documentation, sign, and then receive their payments as well.

“We have paid all severance. So, about 5 or 10 people who are not around are finding ways to come and verify their accounts, after which they will receive their payments. But we can say that about 98% of the people have received their money,” he said.
