The Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has dismissed reports suggesting that the ongoing process to select a new Vice-Chancellor has been stalled due to political interference.
In a statement issued on 8 May 2026, the University described the publication circulating in some media outlets as false, misleading, and not reflective of the actual situation.
According to Management, the selection process, which is being handled by the University Council Search Committee, is progressing smoothly and in line with established procedures and the University’s governing statutes.
It stressed that the process remains professional, transparent, and free from any form of external influence or interference.
KNUST further stated that there has been no attempt by any individual or group to manipulate or compromise the integrity of the exercise.
The University Council reiterated its commitment to fairness, accountability, and institutional integrity throughout the selection process.
Members of the University community, stakeholders, alumni, the media, and the general public have been urged to disregard the reports and treat them with contempt.
The statement added that an official announcement will be made once the Search Committee completes its work.
The release was signed by Dr Daniel Norris Bekoe, University Relations Officer, for the Registrar of KNUST.
