The leadership of the Sheep and Goat Market at Akwatia Line has accused the police of showing bias in their handling of a fatal shooting incident that claimed the life of 23-year-old Abdul Salam during a demolition exercise on April 1, 2026.
According to the market leaders, it is troubling that the police claim they lacked a vehicle to transport the suspect and instead relied on the suspect’s own vehicle.
The leaders further alleged that officers from the Criminal Investigations Department appear to be siding more with the suspect than the complainants.
During a court hearing earlier on Monday, May 4, the presiding judge noted that key documents related to the case remain incomplete.
The court explained that authorities are awaiting the outcome of a forensic audit before finalising the docket for submission to the Attorney-General’s Department for further advice.
The case has been adjourned to June 5, 2026.
