President John Dramani Mahama has pledged government support for the provision of a school bus, classroom block and hostel facility for Koforidua Nursing and Midwifery College following a direct appeal from a student during the Resetting Ghana Citizen Engagement programme.
The President made the commitment on Saturday, May 2, after a student of the college used the question-and-answer session of the event to highlight some of the infrastructural challenges facing the institution.
Responding to the request, the President commended the student for confidently raising the concerns and assured the school that government would move to address them.
“Because of the confidence she had to come here and request for it, which is the classroom, school bus and hostel, I have spoken on that, so I promise you that you will receive the school bus soon. And with the classroom and the hostel, I will direct GETFund to construct it for you,” he stated.
The President’s assurance was met with applause from participants at the event as he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure, particularly for health training institutions, to strengthen the country’s healthcare workforce development.
