The Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office, Raymond Archer, has disclosed that fresh charges will soon be filed against former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO), Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, despite the recent withdrawal of charges against him and four others.

The development comes just days after prosecutors discontinued the earlier case involving Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, his wife Faiza Wuni, and three other accused persons. All charges against the five individuals were withdrawn on Tuesday, May 5.

However, speaking on Joy News on Saturday, May 9, Raymond Archer clarified that the withdrawal of the charges does not mark the end of investigations or prosecution efforts.

According to him, EOCO has uncovered fresh evidence, which has already been compiled into a report and forwarded to the Attorney General for further action.

“The new evidence is being forwarded to the Attorney General based on a report that we have compiled and we will continue the interrogation of Hanan,” he stated.

Archer further indicated that the anti-corruption agency is working swiftly to ensure the legal process continues, expressing confidence that new charges will soon be brought before the court.

“I am sure that quickly, next week, those charges will be filed,” he added.

The accused persons were previously standing trial over allegations involving the theft and laundering of more than GH¢78 million.

The case remains one of Ghana’s most high-profile financial crime investigations in recent years, drawing significant public attention due to the amount involved and the positions held by some of the accused persons.
