The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it is fully prepared to begin its polling station elections scheduled to run from Sunday, May 10, to May 16, 2026.
Deputy General Secretary of the party, Haruna Mohammed, in an interview on Channel One Newsroom on Saturday My 9, assured that all internal structures and committees are in place, insisting that the party has received positive feedback from the ground.
He said there is no indication from any part of the country suggesting that the party is unprepared for the exercise.
“No report from any particular place is indicative that they are not ready. Everybody is ready, all the committees are ready, the constituencies are giving us feedback on the ground and everything is solid that the party is ready for the start of the polling station elections starting from Sunday, 10th to 16th of this month,” he stated.
His comments come amid legal challenges affecting parts of the process. The High Court in Nalerigu in the North East Region has issued an interim injunction restraining the NPP from conducting polling station elections in the Bunkpurugu Constituency.
The order, granted on May 8, 2026, followed an application filed by Konlan Yenuyiab and 16 others against the party, citing alleged breaches of internal rules and concerns over natural justice.
The court held that allowing the elections to proceed could cause irreparable harm and render any future ruling ineffective, and therefore restrained the party and its agents from going ahead with the exercise in the constituency for 10 days.
Similarly, the High Court in Akim Oda has also placed an injunction on the elections in the Akim Swedru Constituency.
Despite these legal developments, the NPP maintains that preparations across the country remain intact and that the broader exercise will proceed as planned where no legal restrictions apply.
